Edtertainer over at Tumblr started up a very large and ambitious Final Fantasy Collaboration project where people choose a FF character to draw and do so, resulting in... a lot of FF characters being drawn. Exact details can be seen here: edtertainer.tumblr.com/post/68…
I was lucky enough to snag Minwu from Final Fantasy II, the only (to my knowledge) male white mage of the series making him a rather unique character. Squeenix dropped the ball not giving us more male white mages, IMO. Minwu is a character I had always kinda wanted to draw, because I loved the character and his design, but never bothered giving it a shot since I didn't see myself as good enough. So this project gave me an excuse to give it a go and I tried reeeeally hard to make this turn out nice. In the end, I'm actually rather happy with the result.

I never really got into any Final Fantasy, but that doesn't stop me from liking this pic.

I love how INTENSE he is! XD Those hard, piercing eyes, and the hard scowl we see underneath his face, the way he's kinda leaning in towards us in this intimidating way -- and how the wind is blowing his cloak around and how IT DOESN'T PHASE HIM makes him look incredibly intense and badass. I love how strongly that comes through, how VIVIDLY you captured that personality.
I think the colors look great here. They're really bold and vibrant, but muted in a way that fits him really well. I like how you showed how the fabric gets pulled, either by the wind or being tied about his body, and how it has this really believable weight to it.
I like his abs, too. XD How you drew them anyway. They look toned without looking ridiculously muscle-y. There's a good sense of tone and muscle and heft to his figure as a whole.
